Louay Nazer, the most influential Saudi Arabian businessman, owns numerous successful medical establishments, notably in the sports and medical sectors.
He finished his studies right away and started working as a businessman. He established one of the most significant Saudi holding companies in the medical sector, and he collaborated with numerous industry leaders to advance the medical and health sectors generally throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
His Upbringing and Education
He was born in the Saudi Arabian Kingdom’s Jeddah in 1965. One of the most prominent politicians in the Kingdom is his father, Hisham Nazer. Before this, he was Minister of Planning and Minister of Mineral Resources and Petroleum.
He immigrated to the United States in 1987, having completed his elementary, middle, and high school education in Saudi Arabia. He settled in Los Angeles, California, to pursue a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at the University of California.
Furthermore, he graduated with a master’s degree in 1989 from the College of Business Administration, and in 2005 Godwin College in the United States of America awarded him an honorary doctorate in humanitarian letters.
Louay Nazer Achievements
In 1991, he founded Nazer Holding Company, which specialised in medical equipment and supplies. This company also invests in private equity. It offers engineering consulting services and helps produce equipment for the oil and gas industry.
Louay Nazer was chosen from among 3,500 candidates to be a member of the Young Global Leaders Organisation. The Young Global Leaders Organisation is one of the most important independent international organisations dedicated to advancing young people and providing them with a variety of experiences and skills worldwide.
In 2007, the Saudi Council of Ministers appointed Louay Nazer to the Cooperative Council for Health Insurance Management for a three-year term, representing the private sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s official health insurance regulatory body. He engaged in numerous negotiations with government institutions to help develop his country’s insurance industry.
In 2010, the World Economic Forum selected Louay Nazer as one of the responsible people under 40 to be a member of the Young Global Leaders (YGL). Additionally, this year, he received his induction as a first-class Aspen Leadership Institute Middle East Fellowship member.
Furthermore, The UCLA Anderson School of Business included him in their list of the “100 Most Influential Alumni.”
His Positions
A Saudi joint-stock insurance company that specialises in covering medical supplies, Bupa Arabia for Cooperative Insurance, appointed Louay Nazer as Chairman of the Board of Directors in 2011. Using a partnership with Nazer Holding Group, it made its debut in 1997.
Al-Nazer was named Chairman of the Jeddah Marketing Council in 2012. Following the announcement of his appointment, he started assisting in creating numerous marketing centres in Jeddah. That led to the city’s success and economic growth.
In October 2013, the President of the Saudi Olympic Committee appointed Louay Nazer as President of the Saudi Judo Federation for a three-year term.
He received a three-year appointment to the National Unified Medical Supplies Company’s “NUPCO” board of directors from the Public Investment Fund in January 2016. In addition, this year saw Al-Nazer appointed to the position of Chairman of the Advisory Council of King Abdullah Medical City in Makkah Al-Mukarramah. One of Saudi Arabia’s largest specialised hospitals.
Nawaf Al-Muqairen resigned in 2018. So, Turki Abdul Mohsen Al-Sheikh, the head of the General Sports Authority, appointed him president of the Saudi Al-Ittihad Club.
