Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf, mayor of the Riyadh Region, acts as the Chairman of the Boards of Directors of the Riyadh Holding Company and the Riyadh Development Company. He also serves as the Royal Commission for the City of Riyadh’s Urban Advisor.
At Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, he worked as a teaching assistant in 2016. At King Saud University in 2012, he was also a faculty member and professor.
Prince Faisal bin Ayyaf Academic Qualifications
At King Saud University, Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf earned an honours degree in architecture and building sciences in 2011. He started his academic pursuits. The phrase “Urban, Cultural and Entertainment Development of the Historic Centre of Riyadh” refers to his capstone project.
In 2014, he graduated with a master’s degree in architecture and urban design from Columbia University in New York, USA.
Additionally, in 1437 AH/2016 AD, he graduated with a second master’s degree in urban planning and administration from Harvard University. After He completed a research paper titled “Riyadh and the Gulf Cities” on city development and urban management.
Prince Faisal bin Ayyaf has been a doctorate student at the University of California, Berkeley. He has been researching the planning and management of cities and regions since 2020.
He decided to focus his studies on the urban development of Riyadh in the areas of housing, urban governance, technological analysis and design, and city administration.
Furthermore, he also selected Riyadh’s urbanisation and administration, as well as an examination of the city’s problems in light of the city’s quick institutional development and administrative expansion, as the subject of his thesis.
His Positions
He held several positions, most notably:
- Design and urban studies’ consultant with Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill (SOM) in Chicago, USA.
- He obtained a position as an architect at the “Moriyama and Tashima” Urban Planning Office in Toronto, Canada in 2011.
- He worked for the Supreme Authority for the Development of the City of Riyadh (now the Royal Commission for the City of Riyadh) in 2011.
- He received a job as an urban consultant by the Royal Commission for the City of Riyadh in 2019.
- Mayor of the Riyadh area since 2019, with an outstanding ranking.
