On the fringes of the High-Level UN Political Forum for Sustainable Development, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia organised several events. The Quality-of-Life Programme, part of its Vision 2030 programme, highlights the Kingdom’s efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
The forum occurred at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City from July 8 to 18.
Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals through the Quality-of-Life Programme
Under this framework, the first day’s session of the UN Political Forum, “From Vision to Impact: Integration to Achieve Sustainable Social and Environmental Change,” concentrated on raising awareness of Saudi Vision 2030 and the Quality-of-Life Programme initiatives. Furthermore, their significance in accomplishing sustainable development objectives.
The discussion covered the most significant housing issues. How to address them with data, cutting-edge techniques, and creativity. Likewise, the value of collaboration, involvement, and experience sharing in accomplishing local, regional, and global objectives.
Quality of Life and its Link to Sustainable Development
On the second day of the forum, a group of experts and officials from Saudi Arabia and other countries participated in interactive lectures. Besides discussion sessions on the topic of “Quality of Life and its Connection to Sustainable Development.”
Enhancing Everyone’s Quality of Life in Saudi Arabia
Khaled Al-Bakr, CEO of the Quality-of-Life Programme, spoke at the event’s opening. He stressed the programme’s contribution to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 objectives and sustainable development.
He highlighted that a range of programmes concentrate on topics like entertainment, sports, urban development, arts and culture, sports, security, and safety. Moreover, hobbies are being implemented in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to raise the standard of living for every person.
“We seek to find novel solutions and develop a knowledge system that redefines the concept of quality of life. Our collaboration with international partners, like the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (Habitat), enhances our efforts to achieve sustainable development goals.”
Transforming the Kingdom into a Premier Worldwide Model in Several Areas
Representatives from various government agencies attended the events, including the Ministry of Economy and Planning, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, the National Center for Human Resources Control, Environmental Compliance, the Public Authority for Food Security, the Royal Commission in Riyadh, The Royal Commission for AlUla Governorate, the Medina Region Development Authority, and the Urban Observatory for the Qassim Region.
The programme’s involvement in this UN-organized high-level forum is in line with Vision 2030’s objectives. It is to establish the Kingdom as a global leader in many industries.
