Princess Fahda bint Fahd Al Saud’s career embodied her dedication to supporting people with disabilities, inspiring them to overcome challenges and achieve miracles in various fields.

The impossible arises from hardship, however, with determination one may overcome obstacles and achieve success. The elite must prioritise helping those in need, as we are social creatures who rely on each other for empathy and support during challenging times.

Her Excellence in Academic Prowess and Charity

With a master’s degree in international relations, Princess Fahda graduated from Middlesex University in the UK. She devoted her time and energy to helping children with disabilities and combating cancer in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This followed the publication of her thesis, Children’s Rights in Syrian Camps, in the Journal of Law and Political Science by the Canadian Centre for Science and Research. This was a pivotal moment in her life.

She founded the Al Fahda Humanitarian Initiative in 2016 to assist children with disabilities by offering programmes of psychological, social, and practical assistance as well as civic and communal projects that would enable them to grow and become more capable in a variety of disciplines.

She also urged young men and women from around the Kingdom who are willing to volunteer to participate in these programs and use their experience to help these youngsters.

Moreover, using the laws that the Kingdom continuously passes to assist this segment of society and help them overcome their obstacles, Princess Fahda, through the ElFahdah Philanthropy Foundation, has also been eager to support and encourage people with disabilities to win medals one after another locally and internationally in a variety of sports.

Princess Fahda bint Fahd Al Saud’s humanitarian philosophy, which emphasises loyalty, sacrifice, and teamwork, inspired her to compete in the Special Olympics World Games for People of Determination (POD) in Abu Dhabi in 2019. This was the first time a Saudi women’s delegation of people of determination had ever participated in an external competition.

Princess Fahda’s Silent Leadership

After defeating the Ivory Coast team 16–11, the princess was able to lead her team to the top spot and the gold medal. She declined to announce her name during the game out of concern that the media covering the Olympics would focus exclusively on her involvement and ignore the team’s significant victory at the Kingdom level.

Additionally, Princess Fahda had a lot of optimism after the Saudi women’s team won the Special Olympics—that people of determination might participate in sports and succeed both domestically and globally. Princess Fahda bint Fahd Al Saud's career was marked by her unwavering dedication to supporting POD, inspiring them to remarkable feats.

As a living example of the value of cooperation, volunteerism, and humanitarian work in fostering vibrant communities, she concentrated on organising community efforts at the Fahda Foundation to help people of determination to explore their skills and invest them in the best way possible.

Besides, Princess Fahda bint Fahd Al Saud wants to build a private school to support and empower people of determination in sports so they can represent the Kingdom around the world. She also wants to expand her humanitarian foundation so it can have a greater positive impact on society and encourage more people to work towards helping driven individuals accomplish their goals.

Princess Fahda played basketball since she was a little child and is also an activist in the area of encouraging people of determination. Throughout her athletic career, she has won 35 field titles for different championships and basketball teams, demonstrating her confidence in this area. However, the sport is still relatively new in the Kingdom and has not yet gained the popularity it deserves.

Empowering Women: A Call to Action

The princess’s demanding work has encouraged many other ladies to follow in her footsteps. In this regard, she concurs: “My advice to any girl is to follow her heart and not give up on her desire to work towards goals that will be remembered long after you are gone. Instead, push yourself to identify your desires, discover what they are, set goals, be aware of your plans and abilities, practise your talents, nurture them, and work towards them.” Princess Fahda bint Fahd Al Saud's career was marked by her unwavering dedication to supporting POD, inspiring them to remarkable feats.

The princess continues to maintain that there is still a long way to go before empowering people with disabilities in society and that the efforts made, while significant, are insufficient. She is currently the head of the Riyadh Sports Academy in addition to serving as a board member of the Association for Children with Disabilities.

For children with disabilities to be treated as torches of will, all official and non-official efforts must be coordinated to raise awareness. These children simply need someone to hold their hand and shine their light on the skies of accomplishments that we might not be able to reach.
