The NEOM Board of Directors announced the inauguration of Sindalah Island, a worldwide luxury marine tourist destination on the Red Sea, which will be NEOM’s first visitor attraction.
On top of that, to commemorate, it welcomed the first group of visitors.
Besides, the island’s development project, which began in 2022 to enhance the Kingdom’s tourism industry, included 30,000 workers, four local contracting partners, and 60 subcontractors.
A Glimpse into the Future of Tourism
The project validates NEOM’s capacity to design and execute innovative, standout locations. This accomplishment shows that NEOM initiatives are moving more quickly and steadily towards realising its ambitious worldwide goal.
Sindala Island, which covers 840 thousand square meters, is located in the northwest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, five kilometres off the coast of NEOM. Plus, it serves as NEOM’s entry point to the Red Sea, offering convenient access to yacht and shipowners from Europe, the Kingdom, and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. The most significant places on the Mediterranean coast are just 17 hours away.
Moreover, the island features restaurants, hotels, top-notch amenities, and unique experiences that blend cutting-edge design and stunning scenery. “Luca Dini” designed the island’s marinas and boats. By 2028, it will grow to generate 3,500 employees and welcome 2,400 tourists per day.
As the first NEOM destination to start receiving visitors, Sindalah Island will strengthen NEOM’s efforts to support luxury tourism in the Kingdom, according to NEOM CEO Eng. Nazmi Al-Nasr. Added to that, because it offers a preview of what the future holds in terms of high-quality development projects and a variety of unique destinations.

NEOM’s Commitment to Environmental Sustainability
Since the beginning of the island’s development, NEOM has been active in safeguarding the natural elements and marine environment at every stage of growth. The island is home to 300 species of coral reefs, offering a unique opportunity to dive into the depths of the island and discover the wonders of marine life, and 1,100 species of fish, including 45 unique species.
Throughout Sindalah Island’s development, the emphasis was on using its advantageous position and year-round mild environment to provide tourists with upscale travel experiences.
Furthermore, a sophisticated marina with 86 berths, a yacht club offering up-to-date services to guests, yacht owners, marine crew managers, and their members. In addition, extra mooring facilities, marine berths for mega yachts, and a comprehensive array of yacht management services are among its key amenities.
Ideally, the village and walkway on Sindalah Island feature entertainment venues, 36 stores, 38 restaurants with international chefs, and others serving various meals throughout the day. Also, there is a lavish swimming pool and a golf club with a view of the beach that features a world-class 5,920-metre course with a rate of 70 strokes, 18 tees, and two 9-hole playing experiences.
The island has three amenities for international hospitality: 440 rooms, 88 villas, and 218 hotel flats. Information on making reservations to visit the island will soon be accessible via NEOM’s tourism sector channels.
