With the slogan “Together We Grow,” the Saudi Arabian Football Federation announced the formal launch of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the 2034 World Cup.
In October of last year, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia declared its desire to submit an independent World Cup nomination, apart from combined candidature files. There have been speculations that Egypt, Greece, and Riyadh may present a tripartite candidature to host the international football tournament.
The announcement unveiled the official website’s logo and visual identity, as well as the nomination file.
For the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the worldwide football event poses a serious challenge on all fronts—political, sporting, and economic.
The Kingdom’s Vision 2030 places Saudi Arabia as a global leader in all disciplines, and Riyadh’s success in organising the World Cup seems to be the realisation of this goal.
Transformation Process
The logo for the nomination file represents the Kingdom’s incredible change and expansion, which is one of football’s quickest and most advanced growth stories. In addition to the overall good impact of hosting the world’s most prestigious sports championship, this is the first World Cup to have 48 teams staged in a single country.
The slogan “Together We Grow” aims to highlight the relationships that connect the Kingdom and its people to the international football community on an extraordinary journey to achieve a brighter future for the world’s most popular sport.
Heritage and Culture
The visual identity in the nomination file captures the spirit of the Kingdom’s rich cultural history and young, active community.
The file’s logo consists of numerous coloured bands embellished with various football-related elements. These bands came in the shape of the number “34”, which represents the year in which the Kingdom hopes to host the 25th edition of this worldwide championship.
Additionally, the visual identity is modelled around the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s geographic map. Its design uses five distinct hues, which reflect both the beautiful scenery of the Kingdom and the tremendous variety that defines Saudi life.
Passion for Football
The nomination file video, which was shot across the Kingdom with the participation of both current and former football stars, tells the story of the Saudi people’s intense love of football while showcasing the Kingdom’s rich cultural legacy, historical landmarks, and picturesque landscapes.
Great Responsibility
Yasser Al-Misehal, President of the Saudi Football Federation, stated at the formal launch of the Saudi Dream, “The Kingdom has a history and legacy full of football achievements, and we must narrate our development journey for the whole world to see and interact with”. He added, “Choosing the slogan “Together We Grow” embodies an ideal reflection of the approach we are adopting to achieve the dream of hosting the tournament in ten years”.
Al-Misehal also stated, “Submitting the candidature file to host the 2034 World Cup comes as an important step in the Kingdom’s sporting and football journey in particular, as we have achieved great development at all levels in football, and the Kingdom’s candidature file to host the tournament represents an open invitation to the world to join us on this journey.” He further stated, “While the city of Jeddah recently hosted hundreds of thousands of fans from more than 100 different nationalities during the 2023 Club World Cup, this represents prominent evidence of the promising future that awaits the international football community when we develop together.”
