The day commemorates the founding of the Saudi state by Imam Muhammad bin Saud in 1727, marking the Hijri year 1139, and serves as the foundation of the first Saudi state, which is now the current Kingdom. The Founding Day event honours a three-century-old memory while emphasising Saudi Arabia's rich historical and civilisational legacy. As a show of respect for all individuals who helped establish the country and clear the path for future generations—whether they were monarchs, imams, or commoners—the kingdom ordered that the day of the founding be remembered.
