Event Details

The Islamic Arts Biennale 2025, which takes place from January 25 to May 25, 2025, offers a comprehensive forum for fresh discussions on Islamic arts as well as an unmatched setting for education, research, and understanding.

The Biennale examines faith through art, contrasting ancient Islamic artefacts with contemporary artworks. It promotes intercultural understanding and global awareness of Islamic art and offers a unique platform for artists to explore spirituality, identity, and the intersection of past and present. The Second Edition of the Islamic Arts Biennale: “Exploring Faith Through Feeling, Thinking, and Making.” “And All That Is In Between” is a phrase that appears multiple times in the Quran: “And God created the Heavens and the Earth and all that is in between.” The Islamic Arts Biennale 2025 offers a deep examination of how faith is honoured, lived, and represented through over 500 ancient and modern artefacts. It invites people to contemplate the divine and humanity's relationship to it, showcasing the vastness of God's creation in five exhibition halls and outdoor areas. Moreover, the Islamic Arts Biennale has grown considerably in its second year, with more pieces and various participating institutions. By bringing together treasures from esteemed institutions throughout the globe, this expansion positions the Biennale as a global centre for Islamic arts. From Tunis to Tashkent, Timbuktu to Yogyakarta, the exhibition showcases the vibrant current and rich legacy of Islamic arts. Important works have been provided by renowned organisations, including the Museum of Islamic Art (Doha), the Victoria and Albert Museum (London), and the Louvre Museum (Paris). The Ahmed Baba Institute in Timbuktu, the Süleymaniye Library in Istanbul, and prominent cultural hubs in Saudi Arabia, such as Ithra in Dahran and the King Fahad National Library in Riyadh, are among the other noteworthy attendees. Furthermore, visitors will have the unique chance to see holy artefacts from the sacred cities of Madinah and Makkah, which will enhance the spiritual resonance of the Biennale and promote intercultural communication and cooperation.
