AlUla’s Cycling Landscape

AlUla is now a great place for cyclists of all skill levels, from pros to amateurs, thanks to this significant development. In contrast, the 2025 AlUla Tour events were open to women as well. Several Saudi women have demonstrated their capacity to excel in cycling competitions.

The rider “Dania Sambawa” is among the most well-known Saudi women cyclists. She performed exceptionally well at the 2023 Arab Championship in Egypt when she won six of the Saudi national team’s twenty-four medals, the most wins the women’s team has ever had in an external competition.

Additionally, she took home the silver medal from the Saudi Games in 2023, the bronze medal from West Asia in 2022, and the Gulf, Arab, and Asian medals in 2023. In the individual time trial, she also took the bronze during her Gulf Games participation. She was a member of the Saudi women’s cycling team that took home the silver in the overall individual competition.

In May 2024, she won the Kingdom’s title in the Saudi Cycling Federation’s women’s “individual time trial” competition. Likewise, one of the most well-known Saudi women cyclists is Ahlam Al-Zaid. She placed first in the “Kingdom Championship for Women’s Category” and was a Saudi women’s cycling team member who took home the silver medal from the Qatari third Gulf Games.

Having won the gold medal in women’s cycling at the Saudi Games 2022, the athlete “Mashael Al-Hazmi” is one of the Kingdom’s cycling champions. She took first place among the winners of the first women’s race in February 2022 and took home the bronze in both the Sprint and Omnium races at the Arab Track Cycling Championship in Cairo. In the Arab global-level “Virtual Races” competition, Al-Hazmi also won first place for women in the C category.

The Saudi player “Munira Al-Dariwish,” a notable member of the Saudi Cycling Federation, won the bronze medal in the Scratch race at the Arab Track Cycling Championship in Cairo, Egypt, in 2022. The last player is “Nouf Al-Qahtani,” who was previously crowned among the victors of the inaugural women’s cycling race conducted in Riyadh as part of the 2021 indoor sports season schedule, as well as winning the silver medal in the third Gulf Games in 2022 in Kuwait.

One of the most significant cycling competitions in the world, the Tour of AlUla is a component of the Asian Cycling Races. In addition to the natural beauty and attractive topography that add to the competition’s beauty, the choice of AlUla Governorate as the race’s host reflects the region’s historical significance and introduces the participants to AlUla, its history, and its antiquities.

The AlUla Tour 2025 was organised by the Saudi Cycling Federation, in coordination with ASO and the Royal Commission for AlUla Governorate.
