Mobile Clinics are a Ground-Breaking Initiative in KSA

Health clusters in the Kingdom are utilising mobile clinics in remote areas to execute various regional-level projects.

Health clusters across the Kingdom employ their mobile clinics, which operate in regions like villages and faraway locations where health services are unavailable, to carry out many regional-level projects.

Every program seeks to offer a range of services, some devoted to raising awareness, some to providing medical advice, and others to offering treatment.

A collection of medical buses outfitted with all the tools required to deliver therapeutic and preventative healthcare in the designated locations make up mobile clinics. They frequently have a laboratory, radiology department, and pharmacy, and an integrated medical team oversees them.

The Saudi Ministry of Health started the mobile clinic initiative in 2017 as part of a thorough assessment of the Kingdom’s healthcare system, and as of right now, there are more than 300 of these clinics operating around the Kingdom. Similarly, a medical supply warehouse, a special location for emergency pharmaceuticals, a water tank, a washbasin, toilets, electrical power, firefighting apparatus and interior and outdoor lighting were among the many facilities installed in the project vehicles. These cars also include an administrative area where medical records are stored.

Along with complete dental care and children’s vaccines, patients who attend mobile clinics also receive a variety of treatment services, such as routine exams and chronic illness cases, as well as essential medical attention for both mums and children.

In addition, patients obtain the required drugs, radiography, and laboratory analysis services, saving them the inconvenience of travelling to the city centre for comparable care. Furthermore, vehicles affiliated with the Al-Jouf Health Region are available for blood donation.

Various Medical Specialities

On a different note, the Saudi Ministry of Health has focused particularly on smoking prevention and has set up a comprehensive initiative consisting of 100 mobile clinics for this reason. These clinics have been operating in universities and education and health directorates throughout the Kingdom. Mobile clinics engage in a spectrum of activities in this context, including medical consultations, awareness campaigns, and therapy for those who want to stop smoking. They also follow up with patients who have begun the cessation journey, with an emphasis on infractions.

Likewise, the administrators of the mobile clinics project have turned their attention to dentistry, setting up 200 clinics across the Kingdom to prevent tooth decay, particularly in children, and promoting healthy habits in schools.

International health activities are another occasion when the Saudi Ministry of Health uses mobile clinics. During October, for instance, a fleet of mobile trucks travels the Kingdom to raise awareness of breast cancer and early diagnosis.

Accordingly, in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, pilgrims can receive medical care while travelling between the sacred locations at mobile clinics, which typically include all the equipment needed for medical care. In Najran alone, the number of people who benefit from mobile clinics has surpassed 10,000.

In Saudi Arabia, the idea of mobile clinics is a service that promotes health awareness in the community. It facilitates access to healthcare through a series of recurring campaigns that reach out to rural areas and villages and offer the required care for chronic conditions like diabetes in addition to internal medicine, ophthalmology, and other specialities.
