The International Translation Forum 2024 will begin its operations in the city of Riyadh on November 8-9. Its goal is to explore local and global translation trends.
Along with discussing the new and exciting opportunities and challenges brought about by technological advancements in the era of machine learning and artificial intelligence, the new session of the International Translation Forum 2024 seeks to shed light on contemporary technologies and trends in the translation industry. Experts and specialists in the area participate widely in the forum to share their experiences and discuss the latest advancements in the translation industry for users and business owners. Additionally, it emphasises the value of the translation profession and its beneficial function in bridging cultures and civilisations, as well as the sharing of cultural content and worldwide cultural communication. Notably, the 2022 forum session featured a variety of interactive training sessions, workshops, and contests designed to enhance translators' proficiency and increase their marketability. Examples of these include simultaneous translation experiences and the translation hackathon. An expo for local and international organisations involved in the translation sector was held in conjunction with the event. Despite the growing demand for translation in the age of globalisation and contemporary communications technology, the profession is today facing intense competition from machines and artificial intelligence. The forum's efforts aim to improve this situation. The translation industry is still crucial, though, because machines are unable to recognise and fix mistakes in the source material. In contrast to typographical and spelling mistakes, software and algorithms do not identify errors in the source text and translate it linguistically into the target language without identifying the errors at all. This includes lexical and semantic problems, as well as inaccurate and contradicting information that only a human translator can understand.
