The King Salman Global Academy for the Arabic Language has released a digital bag to celebrate the International Day of the Arabic Language, which falls on December 18 each year.

The bag aims to enrich celebrations in governmental, private, institutional, and individual sectors, expressing Saudi Arabia's support and wise leadership for the Arabic language. The General Assembly of the United Nations decided on December 18, 1973, to include the Arabic language among its official languages and working languages, aiming to raise awareness of its history, culture, and development through a program involving special activities and events.

Arabic is a language for dialogue and cultural exchange

The Academy's digital bag offers linguistic information, ideas, and enrichment links about the Arabic language, enhancing its status, supporting institutions, and individuals' roles on World Arabic Language Day 2024. Moreover, the digital bag contains 13 sections, including an introduction to the Academy, projects supporting the Arabic language, World Arabic Language Day celebrations, and information about Arabic identity. It also includes quotes from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, tweets supporting Arabic celebration, and a section on Classical Arabic, featuring biographies and translations of influential Saudi, Arab, and Islamic figures. Besides, the Academy encourages users to utilise the digital bag, which offers comprehensive Arabic language information, competitions, and rich topics, aiming to deepen its impact on young children and adolescents, and offers stickers, greeting cards, and editable designs. UNESCO has chosen the theme for 2024's International Day of the Arabic Language, promoting innovation and preserving cultural heritage: “The Arabic Language and AI: Advancing Innovation while Preserving Cultural Heritage.” The title is attributed to advancements in artificial intelligence tools and technologies supporting Arabic language use in various technical sectors.
