The Hajj Encyclopaedia and the Two Holy Mosques 2024 will take place in Mecca, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, between December 24 and December 28. In Jumada al-Akhir 1446 AH, this date falls between the twenty-second and the twenty-sixth.

The purpose of the Hajj Encyclopaedia and the Two Holy Mosques 2024 is to track and record the history of the Hajj from pre-Islamic times to the present, under the rule of King Salman bin Abdulaziz, may God protect him, as the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, in a single encyclopaedic source. It also aims to highlight the Kingdom's growth and outstanding contributions to the Hajj and pilgrims. With all of its themes covered, the encyclopaedia is now undergoing scientific assessment and will likely be published both electronically and in 35 printed volumes. The event's goal is to provide a scientific reference that covers all aspects of the Hajj and the Two Holy Mosques in both space and time.

The Camel Year Festival 2024, which will take place in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, from December 24 to 30, will showcase camels as a component of the Kingdom's cultural legacy.

The year 2024, named the “Year of the Camels,” is in honour of the distinctive cultural significance that camels have held for the Arabian Peninsula's inhabitants throughout history. Originally used as a means of transportation, camels are now a striking example of authenticity and a vital component of Saudi culture. The Camel Year Festival 2024 showcases camels' economic and developmental significance, cultural significance, and initiatives to boost the industry's contribution to national development while also solidifying camels' status as a cultural heritage and a fundamental part of civilisation. The festival aims to foster intercultural dialogue on camel heritage, highlighting its role in civilisation development through trade, exploration, and knowledge-seeking, as well as its economic significance and food security. Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud, the Saudi Minister of Culture, explained the reasons for designating 2024 as the Year of the Camels, stating: “The camel has had a deep and precious position among the residents of the Arabian Peninsula throughout history, from the development of Arab culture until now. Tarjim 2025 Initiative is to enhance the translation sector in Saudi Arabia, enrich Arabic content with high-value translated materials, and strengthen cultural and knowledge exchange between the Kingdom and the world. Moreover, the initiative involves translation experts to discuss modern developments, technologies, and trends in the industry. It emphasises the profession's role in connecting cultures and civilisations and its role in achieving social, cultural, and linguistic communication between different races and societies. In addition, the Authority has set conditions for book translation grants, requiring the book to be useful, enriching cultural content, licensed in Saudi Arabia, and possessing intellectual rights. The Authority may exempt some requests from these conditions as needed. Besides, the content to be translated must be in the original language, published within the last five years, and in the humanities and cultural sciences. The academic periodical should not be longer than 300 pages with a word count of 300 every page, and articles should not be longer than 60 pages with a word count of 300 each.
