The Camel Year Festival 2024, which will take place in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, from December 24 to 30, will showcase camels as a component of the Kingdom's cultural legacy.
The year 2024, named the “Year of the Camels,” is in honour of the distinctive cultural significance that camels have held for the Arabian Peninsula's inhabitants throughout history. Originally used as a means of transportation, camels are now a striking example of authenticity and a vital component of Saudi culture. The Camel Year Festival 2024 showcases camels' economic and developmental significance, cultural significance, and initiatives to boost the industry's contribution to national development while also solidifying camels' status as a cultural heritage and a fundamental part of civilisation. The festival aims to foster intercultural dialogue on camel heritage, highlighting its role in civilisation development through trade, exploration, and knowledge-seeking, as well as its economic significance and food security. Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud, the Saudi Minister of Culture, explained the reasons for designating 2024 as the Year of the Camels, stating: “The camel has had a deep and precious position among the residents of the Arabian Peninsula throughout history, from the development of Arab culture until now. Our forefathers depended on them for their journeys and movements; they were the desert ship.” God Almighty emphasised the unique characteristics of camels in early Arab culture, urging contemplation and reflection. The Saudi Minister stressed the appreciation and pride in the symbolic value of camels in Arab culture, stating that they are on this path in their understanding of the divine. Culture plays a crucial role in expressing and documenting the ancient relationship between Arab men and camels, which has grown and prospered until today. Camels are now cared for by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Crown Prince, the Prime Minister, and all segments of Saudi society, demonstrating the importance of culture in preserving and preserving this connection. The third edition of the Global Governance, Performance, Risk, and Compliance (GPRC) Summit 2025 will take place in Riyadh from January 19-20, 2025.
“Driving Success: Integrating GRC with Strategy Execution in a Hyperconnected World” is the theme for this year's GPRC summit. Moreover, senior governance experts and seasoned academics are going to gather in Riyadh to exchange ideas, discuss the most pressing problems confronting industry employees, and try to come up with creative solutions. The nomination of industry best practices is one of the outcomes that conference participants are hoping to achieve. This will help their organisations succeed and become more adaptable in a complex business environment that involves a lot of overlap and communication. This year's GPRC Summit has opted to focus on leading success by combining the use of professional strategies in a world that has multiple connections with the governance equation. Additionally, institutions and organisations face countless obstacles in a fast-paced business environment, from complicated regulations to competing market forces and contemporary technology, particularly in the six Gulf Cooperation Council nations. This is especially true as the reliance on artificial intelligence grows. Besides, the upcoming summit aligns with the trend towards sustainability, accountability, and transparency in governance strategies in the Arabian Gulf. Further, it integrates environmental, social, and institutional governance frameworks to support a developed future. The opposite will negatively affect organisational flexibility and make achieving strategic goals difficult for governments in the Gulf. Sustainability is a top priority on government agendas. Notably, governance is crucial for companies' success in a dynamic business environment, transcending traditional frameworks. Linking institutions is essential for achieving governance effectively and ensuring the smooth integration of various entities. Digital transformation and strategic alignment are essential for database development, assisting organisations in making a shift that reflects the future of people and processes while guaranteeing compatibility and interconnection at the same rate. The Saudi Franchise Expo (SFE), 2025, is the largest event in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf, providing franchisees with an opportunity to network and share experiences in local, regional, and global expansion.
The Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Centre will host the Saudi Franchise Expo 2025 for all franchisees in the Kingdom and outside from January 27 to 29, 2025. The importance of the exhibition comes from the role franchisees play in supporting the non-oil Saudi economy, as the franchise sector has had the greatest development in the Kingdom. The exhibition aimed to establish the sector's infrastructure, laying the groundwork for growth, with the help of experts and new industry members, ensuring the Kingdom's regional and global expansion. Moreover, investors and project owners can interact with both domestic and international exhibiting firms that provide franchise rights to aspirational individuals through the show. In addition, the exhibition offers unique activities, educational training programs, advising services, seminars, and workshops to ensure visitors leave with a new understanding and new insights. Furthermore, the initiative provides a clear roadmap for entrepreneurs entering the commercial franchise market, assisting them in navigating challenges and saving time, effort, and pain. It is available to both male and female businesses. In the same vein, the Kingdom's economy is among the fastest-growing in the world, and in 2020, its per capita national income was around USD 33,000. North Africa, comprising 25% of the Arab gross national product, is the largest free market in the Middle East. The Kingdom ranks 23rd out of the world's 25 largest economies, leading the Middle East and North Africa region, and 11th out of 181 globally for ease of business procedures. This is because the Kingdom offers a wealth of facilities that make it a welcoming and alluring place for investors to invest. Ultimately, the Kingdom, with a budget of 3 billion Saudi riyals, provides financial assistance to ambitious entrepreneurs, setting it apart from other economies. Tarjim 2025 Initiative is to enhance the translation sector in Saudi Arabia, enrich Arabic content with high-value translated materials, and strengthen cultural and knowledge exchange between the Kingdom and the world. Moreover, the initiative involves translation experts to discuss modern developments, technologies, and trends in the industry. In addition, the Authority has set conditions for book translation grants, requiring the book to be useful, enriching cultural content, licensed in Saudi Arabia, and possessing intellectual rights. The Authority may exempt some requests from these conditions as needed. Besides, the content to be translated must be in the original language, published within the last five years, and in the humanities and cultural sciences. The academic periodical should not be longer than 300 pages with a word count of 300 every page, and articles should not be longer than 60 pages with a word count of 300 each. The Literature, Publishing, and Translation Authority started the Tarjam Initiative in 2020, coinciding with International Translation Day (September 30).
